I am a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon based at Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge 

My special interests include:

  • Total hip and knee replacements 

  • Revision hip surgery 

  • Sports injuries around the hip

  • Enhanced recovery and day-case hip replacement

  • Prosthetic joint infections

 

In addition to the above, I also have a trauma practice covering emergency trauma surgery and periprosthetic fractures.

My key focus is to provide my patients a highly personalised service utilising the best of new technologies and evidence-based medicine to facilitate a streamlined care tailored to their needs.

Majeed Shakokani: About

Background

Mr Shakokani completed his specialist orthopaedic training on the Cambridge rotation, he then undertook one of the country’s highest-volume complex revision hip fellowships at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. He was trained in all aspects of standard and complex primary and revision hip replacements including custom and 3D printed implants. He also augmented his training with multiple visits to various centres of excellence in the UK and Europe such as the Endo Klinik in Germany.

In addition to his clinical work Mr Shakokani has maintained a strong academic interest, he has been involved as a principal investigator in multiple national trials, published many manuscripts, abstracts, book chapters, and has given presentations in national and international conferences. He is currently a reviewer for the Bone and Joint Journal. This year has been elected to be the Suffolk representative on the national advisory panel at the British Hip Society.

In his personal life, Mr Shakokani enjoys numerous sports including kayaking, fishing and shooting.

He lives in Bury St Edmunds with his wife and 3 children.
